A free, online summer programme open to all.
This 9-week programme, part of the UOI’s Bitesize Ethics series, provides a short introduction to ethical issues directly related to Artificial Intelligence, beginning with a general introduction to AI ethics led by UOI scholar Hazem Zohny. The series continues each Wednesday, addressing themes of AI and human relationships, AI human replacement, teaching ethics to machines, privacy, the ethics of smartphones and sustainable AI, finishing with a wrap-up discussion looking back at the topics covered and examining how these concerns connect, where they leave us morally unsettled, and what they imply about the future we’re shaping. We’ll also explore how to think clearly about ethics in the face of radical uncertainty, complexity, and rapid technological change.
Registration is free and no prior experience or study is necessary. Each 45-minute class will take place online via Zoom on Wednesday lunchtimes. and participation in the informal Q&As and discussion sessions following each week’s presentations is warmly encouraged.
Programme dates: 25th June – 20th August. Classes will take place 12:35-13:20 online via Zoom and will typically consist of a 30 minute presentation followed by a Q&A.
What an incredible opportunity to learn and reflect on the ethical questions that AI brings to our daily lives! I love that this programme is free, open to everyone, and designed to spark thoughtful discussion on such important topics—from privacy to human relationships to sustainability. Huge thanks to UOI and Hazem Zohny for making complex issues so accessible. I hope many people join in and help shape a more ethical future for AI!
